Lighthouse Windchime - Cape Romain

All lighthouses have a story to tell, and the Cape Romain lighthouse has its own. It was built on the northern end of what was the outskirts of the Charleston, South Carolina area. It sits on what is now a state nature preserve, seen more by birds and animals than humans now. But its original purpose was to protect man, and not the wildlife. The Cape Romain light told sailors to watch for the shallows surrounding the offshore islands, one of which hosts this structure. The tall black and white building that housed the light could be seen more than 10 miles offshore when its light was lit. The light has been extinguished, but the alure of lighthouses remains to this day.
This lighthouse replica sits atop five copper chime tubes. Its sound is clear and soft, just like the gentle breezes that normally encompass the lighthouse.
